It’s important that we share the Gospel when God opens the door. An ABCS’ parent aide in Yuma learned that a former client of hers, Ricky*, had passed away. When Ricky was a client, he told his parent aide that he had accepted Christ and been baptized. His friend had baptized him and sometimes attended supervised visits with Ricky. Ricky’s parent aide had several conversations about Jesus with both of them and prayed with Ricky whenever the opportunity presented itself. Before Ricky’s passing, a former ABCS parent aide, who is also a chaplain, was able to go to the hospital and minister to Ricky’s loved ones. Ricky passed away shortly after the visit.
The parent aide knew Ricky’s mother, Sharon*, and decided to reach out after hearing the news. Sharon told the parent aide that she and her son had not been on speaking terms when he passed and had not been for a long time. The parent aide comforted Sharon as she processed her grief over the phone and reminded her that despite everything that she and Ricky had been through, she was certain he had loved her. Due to the personal struggles that parent aide clients often face, our team is diligent about praying and sharing the gospel when the opportunity arises. We praise God that Ricky came to know the Lord while receiving parent aide services. It is a comfort to know he is with Jesus. Please pray for his mom and children who are still healing from the loss. *Names changed
